Keeping Your Site User Friendly

I just visited a site with literally zero user-friendliness. It is funny how some web developers are focusing more on design and scripting while forgetting about a very important aspect of web development itself: user-friendliness. Yes, you can use fancy design with lots of animation, along with superbly programmed scripts and web apps. If your users cannot navigate through your site easily, none of those would matter.

Maintaining your site and keeping it user friend can actually be done with a couple of simple steps. First, make sure your navigation bar is clear and concise. State several main pages and place the navigation bar at a comfortable place; you can use dropdown menu if your site has many pages. Continue with adding another set of navigation menu at the page footer.

You can add eye-candies and interactive features to your site, but don’t overdo your effort in making a state-of-the-art site. It will confuse your visitors easily and throw them out of your site in no time at all. Have you ever observe Google’s layout and see how users love to use Google’s search engine? If you have, you should notice how Google’s design theme — simplicity — is actually very effective.
